Netflix is life. Need I say more? I have watched hundreds of TV shows, documentaries, movies etc. on there and it still hasn’t made a dent in all the other shows I could possibly watch! Here are my top 5 shows on Netflix I didn’t expect to fall in love with:
1. Dynasty (2017)
If you loved Gossip Girl, you will love Dynasty. Before it’s recent reboot, it used to be an 80’s Soap Opera and although I have never seen this, I may have to dig it up somewhere.
Dynasty is full of gossip, betrayal, secrets, lies and money. Who doesn’t love a filthy rich family drama?
At the moment there is only one season however season 2 is due to air in October! I’m certainly counting down the days.
2. Orange is the New Black (2013)
First of all I would like to say DO NOT SPOIL THE NEW SEASON FOR ME!
I haven’t got round to watching it yet but I will. God damn I will.
I have never cried and laughed so much in any other programme in my entire life.
If you haven’t already watched, Orange is the New Black starts out focusing on a young, privileged woman who has a past that catches up with her. From there on, it focuses on life in a female prison.
The show has recently released it’s 6th season and long may it continue!
3. Good Girls (2018)
I accidentally stumbled upon this show when I was sad from finishing ‘Friends’ again for the trillionth time. For a comedy crime drama, it’s actually very addictive. Plus, it’s got the dude who plays Shaggy from the Scooby-Doo movies in it so win-win.
Good Girls begins with a group of three women who all need to get hold of a lot of money, somehow. The way they decide to retrieve the money is a whole other dynamic.
Although it’s not clear when season 2 will air, it HAS to after that cliffhanger.
4. Grace and Frankie (2015)
For a couple of years I had seen the advertisement of Grace and Frankie and I thought ‘na, not for me’ but again I found myself struggling to find something to watch so thought I would give it a go. I think I binged it all within an entire week.
Without going into too much detail, Grace and Frankie are two ‘mature’ women who suddenly have to make it on their own after their husbands leave them.
It’s funny and ridiculous and an absolute opposites attract kind of comedy but very heartwarming at the same time.
Grace and Frankie has 4 seasons and a 5th due in 2019. Can’t wait.
5. Queer Eye (2018)
YASSSSS QUEEN. Oh Jonathan you are the light of my life. I thought this would just be an easy watching ‘on in the background’ makeover show but it is FAR MORE.
Queer Eye is basically 5 gay guys helping others find their confidence again. They makeover their wardrobe, hair & beauty, house, lifestyle and food habits.
Each episode can make you laugh and cry and feel like you have 5 friends as you follow their journey through the US making people feel good again.
There are currently 2 seasons and I’ll be damned if there isn’t a third at some point!
